About Me
Originally from Philadelphia, the City of Sisterly Affection, Tyler Genet is a Los Angeles-based screenwriter and director dedicated to telling stories that enable Black girls and women to romanticize their lives with groundedness, humor, and nostalgia. A graduate of UCLA’s Screenwriting MFA program, she received the John H. & Patricia W. Mitchell Scholarship and the Four Sisters Scholarship. Tyler’s romantic thriller, The Marriage Counselor, was optioned by Batesville Media upon graduation. Her short film screenplay, The Auteur’s Muse, placed Third in the 2024 Ivy Film Festival. In addition to her writing, Tyler has directed one short film, A Nurturing, which was an Official Selection of the 2021 Sarah Lawrence College Dancefilm Festival.
